iPhone 17 Prices May Rise, but Pro Models Get More Storage

A trusted leaker says the iPhone 17 series will cost more than the iPhone 16 series. However, Apple might soften the price increase with a bonus for some buyers.

Right now, the iPhone 16 Pro starts with 128GB of storage. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to start with 256GB, which is worth about $100 more.

Why Prices Might Go Up

Many believe Apple will raise iPhone 17 prices to cover extra costs from U.S. tariffs on products made in China. Apple is trying to make more iPhones in India, but it may not be enough to meet U.S. demand at launch.

Apple took a $900 million loss in one quarter to avoid passing costs to buyers, but they might not do that again. Experts and leakers, including Instant Digital and Setsuna Digital, predict a $50 price increase for most models, though the base iPhone 17 might stay the same.

More Storage for iPhone 17 Pro

The leaker Setsuna Digital says the iPhone 17 Pro will start with 256GB of storage instead of 128GB. This matches what Apple did with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, where they removed the 128GB option and started at 256GB for $1,199.

It’s unclear if the iPhone 17 Pro Max will also get a storage boost to 512GB or stay at 256GB. Most think it will stay at 256GB.

Expected iPhone 17 Lineup and Prices

If the reports are correct, here’s what the iPhone 17 lineup might look like:

  • iPhone 17: $799
  • iPhone 17 Pro (256GB): $1,049
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,249
  • iPhone 17 Air: $949

The iPhone 17 Air might be hard to sell at $949 because it’s expensive for its features, even if it’s the slimmest model.

It’s still uncertain if people will pay a high price for a thinner iPhone with average specs.
