India Bangladesh T20 result

India continued their dominance over Bangladesh by winning the second T20I on October 9, 2024, at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. With this victory, India secured the series, maintaining an impressive record of 16 consecutive T20I series wins at home. India posted a formidable total of 221/9 in 20 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy played a sensational knock of 74 runs, supported by Rinku Singh’s 53.

Bangladesh, chasing 222, faltered early and finished at 135/9. Mahmudullah was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 41, but their chase was never on track. India’s bowlers, especially Varun Chakravarthy and Nitish Reddy, took crucial wickets to derail Bangladesh’s hopes.

In the first T20I played on October 6 in Gwalior, India had already secured a victory, defeating Bangladesh by seven wickets. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav expressed his satisfaction with how his team performed in different situations, especially the roles of lower-middle order batsmen like Nitish and Rinku. Bangladesh, however, struggled in both games with their middle-order batting and couldn’t take wickets during crucial phases.

Despite the loss, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto acknowledged that the bowling unit had done well initially but admitted his team failed to maintain consistency in the middle overs. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman were the top performers with the ball, taking two wickets each.

India’s all-round display, led by key contributions from Nitish Reddy with both bat and ball, allowed them to cruise to an 86-run victory. The third and final T20I will be held in Hyderabad on October 12, where Bangladesh will aim to regain some pride in what has been a difficult series for them.
